Package Highlights

Set high in the Himalayas, Kedarnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of India. A key part of the Do Dham circuit, reaching Kedarnath itself feels like a spiritual adventure, with a scenic trek through dramatic mountain landscapes. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and blessed by the nearby Mandakini River, the temple radiates peace and devotion. The chants, crisp mountain air, and divine atmosphere make it more than a pilgrimage - it becomes a deeply personal and soulful experience.

Badrinath Temple is one of the four revered Char Dham shrines and an important part of the Panch Badri circuit. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Badrinarayan, the temple holds immense significance for Vaishnavites and devotees seeking spiritual growth and liberation.

Know Before You Go

Planning a combined trip to Kedarnath and Badrinath takes more than just booking dates. It’s two sacred destinations, long mountain drives, changing weather, and high altitude — all rolled into one journey. Here’s what you should clearly know before you plan:

  • Yatra Registration Is Compulsory: Both Kedarnath and Badrinath require official registration. Keep digital and printed copies handy, as checks happen at multiple points during the route.
  • It’s Not Just a Road Trip: Kedarnath involves a 16-21 km trek (depending on the route), while Badrinath is accessible by road. Plan your energy wisely- the first half is physically demanding. (Additional 8-10 KM Trek if you're planning to cover the Tungnath Temple as well)
  • Travel Time Is Longer Than It Looks: Mountain distances feel short on maps but take hours due to winding roads, traffic, and weather conditions. Buffer days are always a smart idea.
  • Fitness Matters More Than You Think: Even if you’re not trekking the entire Kedarnath route on foot (pony/doli/helicopter), high altitude and long travel hours require basic stamina.
  • Weather Can Shift Without Warning: Rain, landslides, roadblocks, and temperature drops are common in Uttarakhand’s Himalayan belt. Always keep an extra day in your schedule.
  • Altitude Awareness Is Important: Kedarnath sits above 11,000 ft and Badrinath above 10,000 ft. Walk slowly, avoid overexertion, stay hydrated, and give your body time to adjust.
  • Limited Network Connectivity: Mobile signals weaken after Sonprayag and in stretches between Joshimath and Badrinath. Inform family in advance and avoid relying fully on online payments.
  • Accommodation Is Basic in Kedarnath: Unlike Badrinath, stays in Kedarnath are simple and limited. Expect functional comfort, not luxury.
  • Early Darshan Planning Helps: Crowds can be heavy during peak season. Starting early for temple visits saves time and avoids long queues.
  • Carry Sufficient Cash: Remote areas often have unreliable ATMs and network issues. Keep enough cash for small purchases, meals, or emergencies.
  • Warm Clothing Is Essential in All Seasons: Even during summer, mornings and evenings are extremely cold in both shrines. Thermal layers, jackets, gloves, and woollens are necessary.
  • Road Conditions Can Be Unpredictable: Landslides or temporary road closures can affect travel plans, especially near Sonprayag and Joshimath. Patience is part of the journey.
  • Helicopter Services Are Weather Dependent: If you’re planning to go to Kedarnath by helicopter, understand that operations depend entirely on weather and government approvals.
  • Respect Temple Protocols: Follow dress codes, darshan rules, and instructions from authorities. Both shrines hold deep spiritual significance and operate under strict guidelines.
  • Medical Preparedness Is Crucial: Carry personal medicines and basic first-aid. Those with heart, asthma, or high blood pressure concerns should consult a doctor before planning.
  • Mindset Makes the Journey Meaningful: Kedarnath tests your physical strength. Badrinath brings calm and devotion. Together, they create a powerful spiritual experience - if approached with patience and humility.
