This SkyHike itinerary is designed for travellers who want to explore misty hills, dramatic valleys, living root bridges, limestone caves, crystal-clear rivers, waterfalls, local villages and riverside camping in one complete Meghalaya trip.
The journey starts from Guwahati and moves towards Shillong with a scenic stop at Umiam Lake. From there, the route continues to Cherrapunjee, one of the wettest and most beautiful regions of India, where travellers explore Laitlum Canyon, Wei Sawdong Falls, Arwah Cave, Nohkalikai Falls and the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge trek. This part of the journey brings together nature, adventure, waterfalls and forest trails.
The experience continues towards Mawlynnong and Shnongpdeng, where travellers witness clean village life, riverside camps and the crystal-clear Umngot River near Dawki. Water activities, peaceful riverside views and scenic drives make this package perfect for friends, groups, solo travellers, photographers, backpackers and nature lovers. The journey ends with a return to Shillong and Guwahati with beautiful memories of Meghalaya’s hills, waterfalls, caves and rivers.

Itinerary

Day 1 Guwahati Arrival, Drive to Shillong and Umiam Lake Viewpoint

Arrive at Guwahati Airport or railway station by morning and meet the SkyHike trip representative.
Freshen up and have breakfast at your own expense before starting the journey towards Shillong.
Begin your scenic drive from Guwahati to Shillong through beautiful hill roads, green valleys and changing landscapes.
On the way, stop at Umiam Lake Viewpoint and enjoy peaceful lake views surrounded by hills.
Spend some time clicking photographs and taking in the calm surroundings.
Continue the drive towards Shillong and reach by afternoon or evening depending on road and traffic conditions.
After arrival, explore Shillong Market or Police Bazaar for shopping, cafés, street food and local vibes.
Check in to the hotel in the evening and relax after the journey.
Overnight stay will be arranged at the hotel in Shillong.

Day 2 Shillong to Cherrapunjee via Laitlum Canyon, Waterfalls and Caves

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel in Shillong.
After breakfast, check out and start your journey towards Cherrapunjee.
First, visit Laitlum Canyon, one of the most scenic viewpoints in Meghalaya, known for its dramatic valley views, rolling hills and peaceful atmosphere.
Spend time enjoying the natural beauty and photography points before continuing the journey.
Next, visit Wei Sawdong Falls, a beautiful multi-level waterfall known for its turquoise water and forest surroundings.
Proceed to Arwah Cave and explore its natural limestone formations, narrow passages and unique cave structure.
After lunch, continue the drive towards Cherrapunjee.
On arrival, visit Nohkalikai Falls, one of the most iconic waterfalls of Meghalaya, known for its powerful drop and breathtaking surroundings.
Check in to the resort or hotel by evening and relax.
Overnight stay will be arranged in Cherrapunjee.

Day 3 Single Root Bridge and Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel in Cherrapunjee.
After breakfast, depart for Tyrna Village, the starting point of the famous living root bridge trek.
Begin the trek down towards the Single Root Bridge through forest trails, stone steps, streams and lush green surroundings.
Continue further towards the Double Decker Living Root Bridge, one of Meghalaya’s most unique natural wonders.
Spend time near the bridge, enjoy the peaceful forest setting and capture beautiful memories.
The trek includes around 3300 steps one way, so travellers should be physically prepared for a long and demanding climb.
After exploring the bridge, start the return trek back to Tyrna Village.
Reach the top and drive back to Cherrapunjee by evening.
Relax after the long trekking day.
Overnight stay will be arranged in Cherrapunjee.

Day 4 Mawsmai Cave, Mawlynnong Village and Transfer to Shnongpdeng

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel in Cherrapunjee.
After breakfast, check out and proceed for sightseeing.
Visit Mawsmai Cave, one of the most popular caves in Meghalaya, known for its limestone formations and walk-through cave experience.
After the cave visit, continue the journey towards Mawlynnong Village.
Explore Mawlynnong, often known for its cleanliness, bamboo walkways, village lanes, local homes and peaceful surroundings.
Spend some time experiencing the simple village charm and natural beauty.
Later, continue your drive towards Shnongpdeng near Dawki.
On arrival, check in to the riverside camps near the Umngot River.
Spend the evening by the crystal-clear river and enjoy the peaceful campsite surroundings.
Bonfire may be arranged if weather and camp conditions permit.
Dinner and overnight stay will be arranged at the riverside camp in Shnongpdeng.

Day 5 Water Activities, Phe Phe Waterfall and Return to Shillong

Wake up to a peaceful riverside morning in Shnongpdeng.
Enjoy breakfast near the crystal-clear Umngot River.
Spend time enjoying water activities in Dawki or Shnongpdeng as per package confirmation and local conditions.
Activities may include boating, cliff jumping and snorkeling, subject to weather, safety rules, water level and operator availability.
After the activity time, check out from the camp and begin your journey back towards Shillong.
En route, visit Phe Phe Waterfall, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by greenery and natural charm.
Spend some time enjoying the waterfall views and photography.
Continue the drive towards Shillong.
Reach Shillong by evening and check in to the hotel.
You may explore the local market if time and energy permit.
Overnight stay will be arranged at the hotel in Shillong.

Day 6 Umiam Lake Stop and Departure from Guwahati

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel in Shillong.
After breakfast, check out and begin your drive towards Guwahati.
On the way, you may stop again near Umiam Lake for a final scenic pause, subject to time and route conditions.
Continue the drive towards Guwahati Airport or railway station.
Get dropped at Guwahati Airport or railway station as per your departure plan.
Travellers are advised to book return flights after evening hours to avoid timing issues due to hill road conditions.

Basic medical kit will be available for emergency conditions.
Driver night charges, toll charges and parking charges are included as per itinerary.
Inner line permits or required local permits will be arranged if applicable.

👉 If cancellation is made between 7 days to 15 days before the date of travel, 80% of the total Booking Cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
👉 If cancellation is made within 7 days before the date of travel, the total booking cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
Last-minute No-Show: 100% cancellation charges applicable. No reschedule. No refund.
👉 If payment is not made as per the schedule provided in the first booking confirmation Email, Sky Hike reserves the right to cancel the booking after attempting to get in touch with you. Refunds will be issued as per the package cancellation policy.
👉 Transfer your Trek/Trip (any Trek/Trip, within 2 months of your Date of Travel) to your friend before 15 days of your Date of Travel. However, your friend will be eligible for the transfer only if they have not booked any trip/trek with us and have yet to travel.
👉 You can only transfer your Trip or Trek to those friends or People who haven’t booked any trip with us in a given time period.
👉 80% cash voucher in the form of 'HikeCoin' for any other Trip/Trek for one year, if we are informed before 20 days of the date of travel. (1 Rupees = 10 HikeCoin)
👉 90% cash voucher in the form of 'HikeCoin' for the same Trip/Trek for one year. If we are informed 20 days before the date of travel, (1 Rupee = 10 HikeCoin)
👉 The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 business days.
👉 The company is not liable for compensation beyond the tour cost.
👉 Non-Refundable Items: Flight/train/bus tickets once issued are non-refundable.
👉 Permit fees, forest entry charges, or third-party service charges are non-refundable.
👉 Flight/train/bus tickets once issued are non-refundable unless the carrier’s official policy allows cancellation with a refund.
👉 Flight/train/bus tickets applicable refunds will be processed as per the terms of that organization or Booking Portal, and service charges (if any) will be deducted.
👉 No refund will be made for partially utilized services like early check-out, skipped meals, missed sightseeing, or transport.
👉 If sightseeing tickets have been pre-booked, refund eligibility will depend on the official cancellation policy of the issuing authority or managing organization of that specific attraction.

Payment & Confirmation Policies

👉 100.0% of the total Trip/Trek cost will have to be paid 7 days before the Date of Travel.
👉 Booking will be considered confirmed only after a minimum advance payment of 30% of the total package cost.
👉 Once we receive your deposit, we'll send you a confirmation email with all the details, the Invoice & due amount, and the payment date.
👉 Failure to make a timely payment may result in auto-cancellation without prior notice.
👉 Valid ID proof (Aadhar card, passport, etc.) must be submitted at the time of booking.
👉 For international trips, passport copies with a minimum of 6 months' validity and visa documents must be submitted as per deadlines.
👉 Payments accepted via UPI, Net Banking, Credit/Debit Cards, or bank transfers.
👉 Payments made via Credit/Debit Card may attract an additional payment gateway charge (as per the gateway's fee structure).
👉 Cash payments (if any) must be acknowledged with an official receipt.
👉 If you choose to book flight, train, or bus tickets through SkyHike’s team, Full payment is required to issue flight, train, or bus tickets.
👉 Transport ticket prices are dynamic. Final fare will be as per the live rates visible on the booking portals at the time of processing. Any price difference from previous quotes will be chargeable.
